HOSPITAL BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of the Auckland 'Hospital and Chailtable Aid Board'was proceeding yesterday. Present: McLeod (Chairman), Harris, , Garland, Bruce, Bloomfleld, Bagnall, Brown Davis, and Casey. . t y ' Improvement Scheme—The recent suggestions of the honorary medical staff for extensive improvements to the hospital buildings; and appliances, which had been deferred from the last mepting of the Board, was briefly mentioned at the Board's meeting tills afternoon, but, after remarks by the chal-nian (Mr McLeod) and ,Mr Garland, it.was rppolvpd to defei'deaiin<r With-the'matter for six wepks, till after the forthcoming Board election. Infectious'Disease..—The-Board went into committee-to discuss with Dr. Valentine and Ur. Prengley tho best arrangements that could he-made for dealing with Infections -disease., , ...-.' Hospital Finance.—The half-year's financial statement showed that the balance at the bank on- March' 31 last was £2153 8/R the hospital fees had amounted to 7/7. the Costley Home, fees -.215 10/7: the Costley Home receipts from vegetables': and' pi?s £294.19/1. the receipts from old ace pensions ,£529 13/2. The Government subsidies, local rates, and charitable aid recoveries made a total sum -which came' short-of the "expenditure .by £71 17/2, at which sum the bank overdraft stood on September 30 last' The total expenditure for the six monthsamounted to £17,3280/7. The treasurer* estimate for the .next -six moh,ths calculated the* receipts at' £;13.4015 17/2 and the expenditure at £lu~_ 10/1 over' this sum. -'.;.'■• - -
