MARKET QUOTATIONS. The Dairy Produce Committee has fixed the following wholesale quotations for butter and eggs for the week ending Oetouer -S, 1905:—Factory butter, lid per lb; farmers' butter (best), bd per lb; tanners' uuiter second quality), 7a per lb; eggs, Sd per uosen. FRUIT AND PRODUCE MAKKKTS. The local fruit and produce markets have generally been dull during the past week. Poultry was in fair supply to an unlimited demand, and extreme rates ruled. Yonng pigs were sent In in better numbers, but the demand was unsatisfied. The following were the ruling prices at the auction sales yesterday: —
Field Produce.—Potatoes: Southern. 12/ to 13/ cwt: new kidneys, 2*d to '-ijd lb; poor samples at per bag. Kumaras, 10/ to 12/ cwt; onions, American, 18/; chaff, £o 10/ ton.
Vegetables.—Cabbages,; 9d to 2/ dozen cauliflowers, 2/ to 10/; cucumbers, 5/ to 8/; rhubarb, 3/ to 5/; green peas, 2/ to 2/8 per peck; asparagus, 5/ to 6/ dozen. Dairy Produce.—Dairy and separator butter, in piiuts or rolls, first quality, Oid to lljd; pastry, Sd to B*d; farmers' keg. none; milled in "bulk, for export, lOd; factory rolls, Ud: fresh eggs, 9d to Did dozen. Cheese: Farmers', none; factory, Od lb; ioaf, GJd. Bacon, farmers', ."id: factory. 6d to CJd. Prices g»nerally have Improved slightly, especially in Germany, where there Is much activity in auti-.ipation of higher duties. Cargoes are quiet. Thirty-four shillings is asked for ou'-the-eoast and Ociooer shipment. Australian spot supply is limited, and 34/ is asked. New Zealand Is fiimer. Short-berried. 29/6; long-berried, 30/. Flour Is dearer. London. 23/6; Glasgow, 25/. Business is sma:.; 23/6 18 asked for line brauds on passage. , .^. Butter is quiet. Danish, 120/; choicest colonial. 112/; a few lots have sold at 114/. The smaU supply Is enabling prices to be maintained, though the demand Is poor. The sugar market la dull. First marks, 10/4; German, 8/4. The Bradford wool market is quiet, with a moderate turnover.
