SMOKING CARRIAGES.

(To the Editor.i Sir, — As a constant traveller upon the Waikato line, allow mc to draw attention to the constant shortage of secondclass smoking carriages on the 10 a.m. Rotorua express every Monday morning, in consequence of which the carnage platform is invariably crowded with men returning to the country (mostly in a shaky condition after their Saturday night debauch), greatly to their own danger and to the inconvenience oi other passengers. There have been several accidents already from this cause. 11 this occurred only at holiday times it might be excusable, but it is the same every Monday morning all the year round. Hoping the authorities wQI correct this discomfort and danger.—l am, etc, CONSTANT TT-AVT-r.T.KR
