PONSOSBI KEGATTA COMMITTEE. The prises yon at the recent Ponsonby .Ugiittu were distributed last night at the i'onsonby Club Uotel. Iα inn opening Lcinarke he dealt with the steady progress which the regatta had made, and said that chin year's collections, which made a retold, showed that the public was wiliiTu to support the lunction. ue complimented die committee and the officers upon the splendid efforts tiiey had made in connection with the event. I'rize money totalling over £100, and trophies valued at £50, were chen distributed, and the gathering concluded with a hearty vote of thanks to thu president for his lengthy and valued services to tiie committee, tnls being proposed by Mr A Thompson. AUCKLAND KEUATTA COMMITTED. The committee of the Auckland Anniversary Begatta Club met last.evening, Mr T. i>. Ma&eneld presiding. The object of the meeting: was to consider various protests in connection with the races. In the open ooat race the owner of the lieore protested against resaiiing the race on tue gronaxis that, although an accident had happened by one of tue boats capeizung aart Boveial oi. the competitors going u> the assistance of the crew, his yacht was so for ahead of the others that the unish could not have affected his boat. In the race tor decked or iialf-decked yachts, the owner of Hetty protested against Momai being awarded the prize on the grounds that she carried a larger crew than the rales allowed. The owner of Viola protested that the Janet did not conform to the sailing roles in tne race for yachts not exceeding 25ft. Mr Mastield moved —-That the protests be referred to the Sailing committee." Mr ii. Logan, june, moved an amendment — "That all the protests ezeept the scow race be referred to the Hailing Committee." Mr 1). Gouk seconded, and the amendment was carried. Mr Martin's legtu opinion re the scow race stated that after considering the regatta rales it would be necessary to resail the race. Mr J. Alexander pointed out that the race was started half an hour late, and that time should be allowed the competitors. The race finished at 7.80, half an hour after the time stipulated in the programme. Mr Maaefield moved—"That the race be resatled." Mr Somers seconded. The motion was carried unanimously, and it was further .decided that the race take place within the next six months. A protest by the owner of the launch Waitin, statins that the Enobo bad collided when rounding the hulk M. A. Doran, was referred to a special committee.
