HEALTH OF JAPANESE ARMY.
AN EXTRAORDINARY RECORD. UNEQUALLED IN HISTORY OF WARFARE. (Received 8.20 a.m.) LONDON. February 2. Japanese medical and surgical statistics indicate an astonishingly low rate of mortality in General Oku's array between May and December. Of 24.042 cases of disease treated 15.578 recovered, 40 died, and 5609 were sent to Japan. These figures are unequalled in the history of warfare. In the same period 210 of General Oku's officers and 4917 of bis men were killed; and 743 officers -and 20,337 men were wounded. Sixteen per cent, of the total troops engaged were wounded or died.
