JUNIOR NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS.
Junior National Scholarships have been awarded, subject to the regulations, to the following candidates from the public school in the Auckland Education District: —
Richard F. Ward, Grafton school
Frederick A. Airey, Remuera school. William M. Jones, Papakura school. Robert J. G. Palmer, Richmond-road school.
Adela H. H. Moore, Mangere school.
Walter L. Marshall, Huanui school
The first four of the above-named vacate the Education Board Junior District Scholarships held by them, and 'the same are .awarded, in accordance with the Board's regulations, to the following candidates: —
Class D Scholarships to Harold L. Crook, Newton West school; Ernest S. Haraton, Newton East school; Ada E H. Hare, Newton West school.
Class B Scholarship to Olaf P. Jebn son, Whananaki school.
Master J. Simpsco, M. Nash and H. W. Whitten, pupils of the Nelson-etreet School, qualified at the junior scholarship examination, and were granted certificates of proficiency,, whifch entitfe thorn to free tuition at the Grammar School. Two of these, Masters Simpson and Nash, qualified at the National scholarship examination. The third boy, Master Whitten, did not attend I his latter examination. The abovelientionpd certificates were presented toJay to the winners.
The chairman of the Newton Schools Committee, Mr G. J. Garland, presented the scholarships won by pupils of the Newton West School in the recent examinations at the school yesterday. The winners of the junior district scholarships were —Ivy Rosser, Ada Hare, Arthur Sexton, Walter Bishop and Harold Cook. In addition to a certificate won by Reginald Booth, each of the above-mentioned pupils secured a national scholarship. After the presentation of the scholarships, ivlr Garland addressed the children, and after congratulating the school on the record results attained, advised the children to make the best use of the opportunities oll'ered them. _Three cheers for the chairman , terminated the proceedings. The chairman of the Pi.ichmond-road School. Mr W. J. Rees, presented a scholarship and two certificates of proliciency won by Master Palmer and Irene Chapman and E. Walker, of Richmondroad School.
