OTHER MARVELLOUS ESCAPES

Dr. Malcolm Thomson, who has just joined the staff of the Christchnrch Hospital, and Mr A. E. Flower, a master of Christ's College, were among those who narrowly escaped injury wheal the express train from the South was derailed near Oamara on Tuesday. They were in the rear compartment of the first carriage, which came off the line at an angle of about sixty degTees and broke through the fence, falling on its side. The rear platform of the carriage was wrecked, and the corridor was considerably tlamaged, but Tsr. Thomson and Mr Flower were ahle to find a way out through one of the windows. They were shaken, but were fortunate enough to escape without further hurt.
