CONSOLIDATED FUND.

WELLINGTON, Thursday. The .receipts of the Consolidated Fund for the three months ending December 31 amounted to £2,529,452. This includes £575,945, balance at the beginning of the quarter. Railways contributed £513,668. Customs £672,724, stamps £257,083, land tax £337,478. The expenditure on permanent appropriations was £963,701, and on annual appropriations £970.913. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. DUNEDIN, this day. Thomas Gray, -who had pleaded guilty in the Lower Court to a charge of indecent assault, was sentenced by Judge Williams this morning to eighteen months' hard labour. WELLINGTON, this day. Alfred Crossey, ex-publican, found guilty of theft from the person, was sentenced this morning to two years' imprisonment. WANGANUI, this day. In the Magistrate's Court this morning , a well-known settler was charged with neglecting to brand 500 sheep immediately after being shorn. He pleaded guilty, but stated that he was ignorant of the law. He was fined 3d. per head, the Act providing for a mn Yitnnm penalty of 10/ per head.
