RESULTS OF EXAMINATIONS.

The results of the District Scholar, ships were submitted to a meeting ot the executive committee of the Board of Education this morningSENIORS. In the senior division the number j examined was 34, the number who qu*. . lined was 19, and 15 failed. Seniw Scholarships are awarded to the twelve highest candidates, and are tenable for three years; also certificates of profr . eiency to the remaining seven candi- . dates of whom the first four are entitled to receive free tuition at the Auckland. Grammar School. All the successful can. didates are pupils of that school, except' two who are pupils of the Whang*r<4 High School. JUNIORS. In the junior division the number examined was 202, of whom 67 qualified, and 135 failed. Twenty-eight scholarships have been awarded m follows in terms of the regulations: Four Auckland Girls' High School scholarships to the four oirls standing highest on the list of quafined candidates,; four to the pupils ,i» primary schools from 100 to 300 average attendance; four to the pupils in prim. ary schools having less than 100 average attendance and taught by two or more 4, teachers; two to the pupils in primary schools taught by one teacher only. The . remaining fourteen are awarded to the pupils gaining the highest marks, without distinction as to size of school. These scholarships are tenable for three years. - Certificates of proficiency are awarded to the remaining qualified candidate! who failed to get a scholarship. The following are the names of successful candidates:—George M. Stewart, 3689 marks; Hilda Kirkbride, 3370; Beryl Withers, 3014; Douglas L. Ross, 2945; Francis C. Bacon, 2915; Arnold E. Mills, 2821; Randall H. Melville, 2726; Nora A. Pell, 2724; Norman R. Jacobsen, 2690; Alan Wallace, 2624; Emily K. Wallace, 2621; George E. Clay, 2614.
