YESTERDAY.

(Before Mr S..E. McCarthy, S-M ) An Orchard Theft.—Laurie Hart and Charles Nicholson, boys, were charged with stealing 2/ worth of loqoate from the orchard of James McMath, at Parnell. Hart appeared with his father, who undertook to pay the damage which had been done t© the trees?' and his son wai discharged with a caution. A warrant was issued for Nicholson's arrest in consequence of bis failure to appear Remanded.—Waiter White, charged on remand with indecently assaulting a child at Gbey Lynn on December 27 and January 1, was farther remanded on bail, upon his solicitor's application, uatil Monday next.

Two Inebriates.—The drunkards, two Brat-offenders, were fined £1 each with costs. An Uncontrollable Girt.—Esther Moses, a girl of eleven, was charged with stealing 2/6, the property of Minnie Taylor. It was shown that the girl took the money from a neighbour's house, and that she was not fully under her mother's control. The Magistrate convicted her of the theft, and upon the appGcatioa of Sergeant Hendry, committed the girl to the Auckland Industrial School. Alleged Theft of a Cow.—George Taylor Mitchell, who had been arrested in Auckland un/ra a warrant charging him with stealing a cow value £8, the property of William Gibson Rae, was remanded to be tried at Papakura on Tuesday. He was allowed bail in his own surety of £100, and two others of £50 each. Remanded.—On a charge of forging and uttering a cheque for £4 4/ at Waihi on December 31. s a young man named Walter James Donnelly, on remand, was finally remanded to" be tried at Waihi on January 25. Maintenance.—Mr J. R. Reed represented Thomas Stewart in an application that an order for the maintenance of Isabella Stewart should be suspended. Mr Brookfield appeared for Mrs Stewart.
