THE STERILISING WORKS.
TO COST ABOUT £12,000. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) j £ WELLINGTON, this'day. The Minister for Agriculture hopes to be in a position to call for tenders for the erection of the North Island sterilising works at Auckland within the next few days. It is apparent that the establishment of these works will entail a greater outlay than most people are aware of. When the building and plant are finally ready for working operations there won't be much of £12,000 left. Two boilers required for steaming purposes are to be manufactured in the colony, but it will be absolutely necessary to import machinery and plant from America. The works will practically cover an acre of ground, and will be so arranged that they can be extended in future if necessary.
