COROMANDEL COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Coromandel County Council met on Monday, Mr Bwindley presiding. A communication was received from the Mines Department agreeing to £40 of the Whitl-snga-Gumtown .road grant being spent on metalling the Gumtown-Kalmarama road, two men to, bo .employed for one week repairing the Oteo Bridge and Gumtown road. The Minister for Mines wrote inquiring how roads damaged byflood were being repaired.. It was decided, to reply that repairs are. being attended to by parties on day wageF out of grants. The county solicitor wrote that prospecting aid could not be paid to the Golden Spark mine nor the Harbour View mine.' On the recommendation of the county solicitor It was resolved that the matter of""dn mace done by Cashmore Bros, drlving'logs in the Walau River be left In the bands of the Commissioner of Crown Lands >to settle. Grants for Coromandel, Kuaothnu. Opltonul, nnd Mahakaral goldflelds-' roads were authorised to he spent on wages without approval of specifications. Slaughtering licenses were granted to George Hedge and George Lindsay. The chairman was authorised to arrange for the erection of a wire bridge at Opltonul. It was decided that Canbare Be- inland road be closed for traffic, and the grant diverted to the Port Jackson road.
