(Before Mr. T. Hutchison, S.M.) j Maintenance.—John Martin, by consent, was ordered to pay 14s.' per week j towards the maintenance of his wife. Elizabeth Martin. i "Safe-keeping.''—Benjamin Reston. a j young sailor on the river steamer AdI vanee was charged with the theft of a | suit of clothes, value £1 19'ri, the pro- ! perty of Robert H. Cook. Reston plead!ed guilty. Sub-Inspector Dlac-k explain- ! Ed that the clothes were left in the cabin |of the .steamer Vivid by the prosecutor, i who got ashore at Greenhithe. After the clothes were missed, Constable Rowe ■ questioned the accused- who denied being | in pcs-session of the clothes, but examimi- : tion cd' his trunk led to their discovery. I Reston urged that the clothes were not ! left in a safe place, and he took charge |of the parcel, intending to return it. IHe was remanded on bail for a week, pending a report from the Probation j Officer. I The Drink.—-John McNaughton, a ! prohibited was fined £l for being j found on licensed premises, viz.. the : Exchange Hotel, and a first offending ; drunkard was convicted and discharged!
