AUCKLAND LANDS BROUGfIJ UNDER THE ACT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Lands and Survey Department are getting out advertisements to bring almost all the lands in the Auckland district under the operation of the Bush and Swamp Act of last session. There are 117.000 acres of surveyed land and 259,000 acres unsurveyed 'land already proclaimed in the 'Gazette," and the days fixed for receiving applications are the 2nd and 16th March respectively, at the Land Oflice, Auckland. This should prove v boon, and be advantageous to settlement, as after payment of a half-year's rent when the application is made, no further payment is required er. heavy bush land for a period of four years, and no rates are collectable by local bodies for the sam« period.
