KAURI GUM MARKET. SUMMARY REPORT. "Auckland Star" Office, Wednesday, February 3. The position of the kauri gum market is somewhat unsatisfactory at the present time, as the absence of demand for good grades makes quotations for such lines merely nominal, holders having -to make concessions to ensure busiyc-ss. Boor grades, on the other hand, meet with fair demand, although a large proportion of the gum now being sent In Is of inferior quality. Exports since last mall are as follow: For San Francisco, per Ventura. 27 tons; for New York, per Indradevi, 42 tons, Mokola 21 tons, Westralia 21 tons: for Europe, per Melville Island, 8 tons, Tongariro 111 tons, Indradevi 50 t-ons l Mokola 25 tons, Corinthic 54 tons. Nairnshire 36 tons. Indralema 5 tons, Westralia 39 tons: total, 448 tons. Supplies for the month of January totaii 854 tons.

The tallow stock amounts to 10,552 casks; imports, 4024 casks; deliveries, 2822 casks. Lead, £11 11/8- Copper: Supplies. 20.448 tons; deliveries. 25,991; stock, 14,----233; advised afloat, 4025. Tin: Stock, 1t>,795 tons; on spot, 4951 tons; afloat, 3454 tons: deliveries, 18C1 tons. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is estimated at 2,360,000 quarters; for the Continent. 015,000 quarters; Atlantic shipments, 140.000 quarters; Pacific 15,000 quarters, LONDON WOOL SALES. (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 2. Wool catalogued, 134,000 bales; sold for home consumption,, 66,000 bales; for the Continent. 60,000; and for the American market, 5000 bales; held over, 600 bales. Compared with the December sales, merinos generally have advanced 5 per cent., while good scoured have occasionally advanced lid. Crossbreds and fine medium advanced fully 5 per cent., and coarse 10 per cent. The sale closed slightly weaker than at the opening, but the tone of the market is ( _ea)thy and stronger than the quotations imdica,te, and prospects are more hopeful.
