Mr Hodges was in grand voice, and his fine singing of "The Er) Kiuj;" was loudly applauded. Mr Hodscs also sang for the iiist time in Auckland two famous series of sonys—three Biblical songs by Brahma and the Freebooter song's by Wallace.. The Brahms songs proved magnificent settings, and they wore Impressively sung by Mr Hodges. A trio of Schubert songs were most excellent. Ayhvard's "Beloved, it is Morn," aud Alfred Hill's "My Faiiest Child" concluded an admirable programme. Mrs Queree played the accompaniments very delicately, and ,she also plr.yed several pianoforte solos. Of these, the best was Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata, the lirst two movements of which were given with great success. She also gave a trio of pieces by Chopin, Heller and Schumann, and the second of Liszt's "Rhapsodies Ilongrolsc." She was very warmly applauded. Mr Midgley played the organ obligates to Mr Hodges' two lust songs. The recital was a very groat success, and the givers of it are to be congratulated on the success achieved.
