FANCY FAIR.
The fancy fair promoted by the Newton Congregational Church for the purpose of extinguishing the debt on the cottage adjoining the church was well -attended yesterday afternoon. The Rev. J. Wilkius, in declaring the fair open, said there; still remained on the cottage a debt of about £_•">, and when that was paid off the whole of the church property would be free from debt. He felt sure the funds accruing from the fair would wipe out this debt:, and whatever money was obtained over and above •the amount required would go towards painting the inside of the church. He had much pleasure in declaring the fair open. In the evening there was another good attendance, and satisfactory sales were effected. The fair was again largely attended this afternoon, and it will be open for the Inst time to-night. Additional stallholders rare: Misses G. and S. and D. Rowe, and Mrs Carter; refreshment stall, Mr W. Taylor; ice cream, E. Gladding; bagatelle; and Miss A. Taylor, fish-pond.
