HAMILTON, this day.
At the Magistrate's Court at Te Awamutu yesterday James McGrath, farmer, of Te Kuiti, was fined £5 and costs £19/ for neglecting to furnish a return of sheep under the Stock Act. James Murtagh, for a first offence in sly grog selling at Ongaruhe, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. J. P. Gaffey, of Ongaruhe," for permitting the sale of liquor, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called on. A charge against J. Self, heard last Court, day, was dismissed. The magistrate said he could not convict on the evidence of Hinaki. H. Hint, a boardinghousekeeper, of the King Country, was fined £5 and costs £2 13/ under the Health Act for neglecting to clean his back premises, thereby causing a nuisance. At Te Aroha yesterday the case of W. S. Allen, against the Piako County Council, who had ordered him to cut down trees over-shadowing a road, judgment was reserved, the magistrate to visit the place. Mr Buddie appears for Mr Allen, and Mr Swarbrick for the Council.
