YESTERDAY.
(Before Mr 11. W. Brabant, S.M.)
Conflicting Evidence.—Gustav Nelson. who was* represented by Mr J. R. London, pleaded not guilty to committing an indecent act on the Manukau Road, Epsom, on Sunday. When the case was first called Nelson admitted the offence, but a witness voluntarily came forward and said some residents at Epsom were of the opinion that the man was not guilty. His Worship ordered the case to stand down, and evidence was subsequently taken, accused altering his plea to "Not guilty," explaining that he had pleaded guilty because he thought lie -would be let o_ if he _kl so. His Worship dociAod to reserve his decision in view of the conflicting nature of the evidence, and he promised to visit the place where the offence was alleged to have occurred. Accused was remanded until Friday on bail, himself in a surety of £5 and another for a similar amount.
