COMMISSION APPOINTED

LONDON, April 20. A Royal Commission, with Lord Balfour of' Burleigh as chairman, and including the Prince of Wales, Vice-Ad-miral °Noel, and prominent members of loth sides of the House of Lords and the House of Commons, with Professor Holland, of Oxford, representatives of the Board of Trade and Home Office, Glyn-3IiIIs, Curric, aud Lloyds, and the Liverpool Corn Trade Association, have beeri authorised to inquire into conditions affecting the importation of food and raw material in war time, and the amount of reserves of such supplies for a given period, and whether it is desired to adopt measures besides tthe maintenance of a strong fleet where b;. supplies can be better secured and violent fluctuations in prices avoided.
