A six-roomed house in Alpha street, occupied by. Mr. Isherwood, j)hotogrfipher,' and owned by Mr. Thomas Nixon, was destroyed by fire at two this morning. The inmates escaped, but the eldest lad had a narrow escape of being smothered. The fire started in the kitchen. A portion' of the furniture was saved.
