SUPPOSED DROWNING FATALITIES.
FIVE MEN MISSING

BLENHEIM, this day.
Some sensation was caused in the town to-day by a report from Picton that three men had been drowned in Queen Charlotte Sound. Many versions of the supposed fatality are current, and authentic news is not available.
As far as can be ascertained, two ycung men, Donald and Nelson, both unmarried, left Picton in a boat two or three weeks ago for a sawmill down the sounds and have not been heard of since. Rough weather prevailed after their departure, and it is feared that they came to grief.
On top of this supposed fatality comes a report that anxiety is felt es to the safety of three other men who left Picton on a small steamer sc.rae days ago for the Heads on a fishing excursion and have not been heard of since.
