THE PROPOSED VETERANS' HOME.

A GIFT OF LAND WANTED

Lord Eanfurly's visit to Napier is said to be for the purpose of inspecting two sites for the proposed Veterans' Home, which have been offered as gifts, free of any conditions. We understand that if a gift of a suitable site were made in the Auckland district there would be no hesitation in accepting it; but up to the present time no such, offer has been made. The Auckland Committee, however, has had under consideration several sites which are available for purchase, and have been in communication with the Governor on the subject. It is believed His Excellency feels that a free gift of land ought to be forthcoming in Auckland for so laudable a purpose.
