At the last meeting- of the Onehunga Borough Council a communication on the subject of fire insurance rates was received from the Tradesmen's Association, and a conference was then arranged. As a result, a petition is now in circulation, and is being numerously signed. The petitioners state that steps be taken to place the Onehunga property-owners on the same footing1 as those in Auckland. They state that serious fires are now extremely rare in Onehunga; the town possesses an abundant water supply and an efficient fire brigade, and an additional fire station is now in course of erection in the upper part of tlie town.
