THE SAMUEL PLIMSOLL.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, Friday
The Hawea cast off the Samuel Plimsoll outside the Heads, and the ship was taken in tow by the Plucky and Koputai, and brought up to Port Chalmers. The ship does not present so bad an appearance as might have been expected after the weather she has had. The foremast and topmast are still standing. Part of the port, bulwarks on the main deck are damaged, together with the poop railing on that side. Three boats are more or less damaged, and there is a large hole in the deck, caused by the mainmast breaking off, which has been temporarily stopped by canvas. The skylights, binnacle, and wheel are uninjured.
