MASTERTON, this day,

A few weeks ago a cheque for £121 drawn by the Sawmillers' Association was lost. A platelayer named (jreeuaw subsequently attempted to pass it. He was afterwards arrested, on a charge _f theft, and was committed for trial to-day by the Magistrate. DEATH FROM BURNS. A little child named Dent, who was burned' through its nightdress catching fire a few days ago, succumbed to the injuries to-day. The child's parents reside at Petone.
