OLD COLONISTS' REUNION
The social gathering of old colonists following the thanksgiving service was continued in the Choral Hall after we went to press yesterday. The Rev. C. A. Lyon gave a short addross, and songs were given by Miss Alice Rimmer, "The Pilgrim Fathers," and Mr A. Ford, "Mary," and "Fiona" as an encore. Haydn's Symphony was given as a quintette by Miss Lovett, Messrs T. 11. White, J. P. Hooton, A. Lovett and R. Walton. Mr Philpott gave an organ solo, and assisted in the. accompaniments, Messrs T. Midgley and J. I. Hooton acting in a similar capacity. During the afternoon the following telegram was read from the lion. Sir Joseph Ward, Act-ing-Premier: —"1 very much regret that it is not possible for me to be present at the reunion of the old colonists in Auckland to-day. Had „ been able to be in Auckland it would have afforded me a great deal of pleasure t6 have taken part in the gathering and to have done honour to the old settlers to whom New Zealand is so deeply indebted. I sincerely wish all present an enjoyable and interesting rneijting."
