N.Z. AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, Friday
The adjourned annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association was held to-night, when further consideration was given to the proposed new rules. Rule 8 was altered to read as follows: —"Local associations shall decide all questions arising out of the interpretation of rules and all protests and disputes with their own districts respectively, and in case of misconduct either on the part of individuals, crews, or clubs under their jurisdiction, may. after inquiry, recommend to the managing committee the infliction of any penalty they think necessary, provided that any decision of the local association under this rule may be appealed against to the managing committee." The proposal of the representative of the Kawatiri Club (Westport) to provide for the formation of a West Coast local association was lost. The delegate urged that it was not right that the Kawatiri Club, the only club on the West Coast, should be attached 1o the Nelson Association. It was decided that each local association should pay an annual subscription to the New Zealand Association of 4d. per head for each active paying member. It was decided that delegates should at the annual meeting at the beginning of the season decide at which regatta championships would be held. LAn amendment, "That Wellington should be the permanent course," was lost on the voices. t WELLINGTON, this day.
Last night's meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association lasted until nearly midnight. The new rules as circulated to clubs were passed without material amendment, and it was decided that they be brought into force on January 5, 1903, when the centre form of government will come into operation. At the sug-' gestion of the Union Rowing Club, Christchurch, it was resolved that the central committee of the New Zealand association should in future be known as "the council." instead of "the managing committee," and the constitution and rules were altered accordingly. A motion was carried that the mjinutes, which Saturday night's meeting refused to confirm, on the ground of the alleged informality of the Picton Club's vote, were a correct record of the actual proceedings at the meeting in question, and that they be confirmed. Mr G. F. Marks, representing the Waitemata Club, gave notice that he would move at the next meeting: "That a plebiscite of all clubs be taken with a view to ascertaining whether they are agreeable to an increase in subscriptions, sufficient to enable the N.Z. Amateur Rowing Association to -Tidertake the whole financial responsibility of championship regattas.
