TE AWAMUTU.
It was with the most profound regret that news was received here of the death of our beloved Bishop. Dr. Cowie was to have held a confirmation service here last month, but owing to ill-health it had to be postponed. On Sunday, memorial services for the late Primate were held in St. John's Church, at both morning and evening services. In the absence of the Vicar (the Rev. F. who had gone to be present at His Lordship's funeral, the services were conducted by the lay readers. The "Dead March" was played at the close of the services. We shall'indeed miss the yearly visits of our beloved Bishop, who had endeared himself to every heart in the Waikato. Mrs Cowie and members of the family have our heartfelt sympathy in their sad loss. At the 11 o'clock service church parade was held, the No. 2 Waikato Mounted RiH«s now being in camp. Intercessory prayers were also said on behalf of the King.
