HAMILTON.

HAMILTON, this day. HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL At a '■■meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council the Finance Committee recommended that a new-traffic bridge be erected, to cost about £14,000, and that Mr Metcalf be requested to prepare plans and specifications for the work. After a long discussion the recommendation was adopted. The Council decided to take, the necessary legal steps with a view to carrying out the work at the earliest possible date. The overdraft was reported to be £395, lews than it had been for many years.
The inspector of nuisances was requested to report on the block between Victoria, Anglesea, Hood and CcJlingwood Streets, with a view to the abatement of the existing nuisances.
On the recommendation of the Works Committee it was d-eeided to cut up the endowment below St. Peter's Church into sections of *<ft frontage, and offer them for lease by auction.
