Peter Matheson, who had been living- for some time past in retirement, committed suicide by hang-ing , himself yesterday morning-. The deceased was Co years of ag-e, and was a■■ >reat .sufferer from asthma. lie had btcome so bad lately that he could not take food- He appears to have become very depressed, and yesterday disappeared from the house, and was eventually discovered by his rare hang-ing from the door of an outhouse. There, were indications that he had attempted to cut his throat with a pen knife, as several wounds had been inflicted about the neck. Finding - his purpose frustrated, he had apparently secured a piece of clctfches line, and passing- one through a hole in the door of an juthouse, tied the" other end round his neck and hang-ed himself.
