FATAL ACCIDENT.
MAN KILLED ON THE TE ANAU. i
A fatal accident occurred on board the Union S.S. Co.'s steamer Te Anau at the Queen-street Wharf, Auckland, on. Saturday, when a derrick Broke and struck a wharf labourer named George Murphy. Harry Seawin, a mate of the vessel, was standing alongside, and narrowly escaped. Dr. Walker was summoned, and, finding that the base of the skull was apparently fractured by the blow which, the derrick had inflicted on the head, ordered his removal to the Hospital. The patient lingered till 11.30 on Sunday morning, and then died. Murphy leaves a. wife and family residing in East-street, Newton. An inquest was proceeding- this afternoon.
