FIRE.
At eight o'clock on Saturday evening a six-roqmed house at Penrose, occupied, by Mr William McCulloeh and family, and owned by Mrs Margaret Lawrence, was burnt down. It appears that Mr McCulloc-h and family left for town at three o'clock in the afternoon, leaving a fire in the rauge. At eight o'clock aMr Mooney discovered the place to be on fire and endeavoured, accompanied by another neighbour, to enter the house, but was unable to do so owing to the smoke. Nothing was saved from the house. The house and furniture are valued at £ 500. The house was uninsured, while the furniture was insured for £150 in the Royal Office.
At-eleven o'clock on Saturday morning an incipient fire broke out in a house in the Great North Road, own/ edby Mrs. C. Fiulay, and occupied by Henfry Hall. The outbreak was caused by the stove becoming , overheated and setting fire to the mantelpiece. The lire was extinguished before much damage was done. The house is insured in the South British Office for £ 150.
