FATAL ACCIDENTS.
At the inquest concerning the fatality on the Te. Apau, held M the Hospital this; af ternoQn, Mr J. C. Martin appeared for the widow and family of (Jeceasecp Ai ter the Evidence' , of Pr. Teague, who deposed ai? to the injuries when deceased arrived at the hospital, had been heard, Mr Martin asked for an adjournment.- He sauj the man met his death from a blow by a derrick on board one of the Union Company's steamers. The spar Causing the accident broke off eight or ten feet from the mast. The steamer had left Auckland, and it was now impossible for the jury to view the derrick. It was possible there might be some question of responsibility, and in that case it would be well that the derrick should be seen. i The coroner said that it would be necessary to adjourn, and it was decided to adjourn until next Friday week, when the Te Anau will again be in port. The coroner also suggested that the police should wire to prevent the removal of the derrick from the vessel. t (Proceeding.)
