The • Republican leaders a^re : abandoning the Shipping- Subsidy BilL Mr, .Cramp, a Philadelphia, shipbuilder, declares that unless it is passed Mr Pierpoht Morgan's combination will build, liners in Britain or purchase non-American, shipyards. . p
The' combination has closed its subscription books. It proposes to develop each port along the, lines best adapted for steamers. During- the winter months'the service • will be restricted according- to the number of passengers. Summer fares and Winter fares will be classified according to the speed and tonnage of the steamers employed.
