GIFT OF A FLAG
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales has forwarded to His Excellency the Governor a Union Jack for presentation to the Arawa tribe. During his visit to New Zealand His Royal Highness (then Duke of York) was greatly impressed with the Maori welcome he received at Rotorua,, and has now taken this appropriate way of acknowledging the loyalty of the Arawas, who already possess a flag presented to them many years ago by the. Duke of Edinburgh. The flag was sent out by the s.s. Tongariro, and was delivered at Government House yesterday. Lord Rauiurly will visit Rotorua' on May 1. accompanied' by Lady Ranfurly, for the purpose of presenting the flag in person.

The Native Minister will go on from Gisborne to Auckland to attend the presentation by the Governor of fhe flag promised to the Arawa tribe by the Prince of Wales.
