POLICE COURT.
YESTERDAY.
(Before Mr H. W. Brabant, S.M.)
Assault.—The hearing of the charges of assaulting Edwin Wiles and Frederick Wilson, preferred against Edward Barrett, were concluded after we went to press yesterday. The assault on Wilson was made on the latter endeavouring to arrest, him. Evidence for the defence was also given by Joseph Way and John Murphy.—His Worship said he was not satisfied with the evidence for the defence as to the alleged indecency,' but he thought there must have been something between Wiles and accused to bring on the assault. With reference to the alleged assault on Wilson, it was hard to say whether or not it took place. He would deal with the case as an offence against the public, and nne accused 40/ and costs on the first information. • ■
