RACING NEWS.

AVONDALK JOCKEY CLUB'S AUTUMN MEETING. This meeting will be continued to-mor-row (Wednesday), and the fine acceptances received for the whole or the events indicate that the prospects of good sport are assured. The train arrangements are advertised in this issue, and intending visitors to the meeting should note that there are some alterations in the time of departure as compared with the ' arrangements of Saturday last. The lirst train departs from Auckland station at 10.55, the next one half and hour later, and those following at longer intervals. The caterer (Mr King) will provide afternoon tea in a marquee near the grandstand.

The first race is sot down to commence at 12.30 p.m. No fewer than sixteen arc engaged in the Maiden Hurdle Handicap, which may be won by MARS. The Miner and Wilson have performed so well on the Hat also that they may be hard to beat. In the Nursery Handicap NORTHUMBKRLAND may succeed. The Autumn Handicap will. I think, be won by HIGHLANDER, while Laetitia and Goetzer-of the others may run well. The Flying Handicap h;is an open appearance. Hohoro has been given a load. A good deal depends upon the start for a race of this distance, four furlongs. Scout has speed. Jewellery, Orange and Blue, Reclaimer and Despatch road about as well as any. and JEWELLERY or ORANGE AND BLUB may win. In the Pony Race SKA SPRAY and SENTINEL are those I prefer. ]n the Steeplechase SULTANA, EVENLNG WONDER and PARIHAKI may fight out the finish. MECHANIC and FRANCES LOVEJOY in the Hack Race read as well as any; and in the Waitakerei Handicap. LANDLOCK and GEOLOGIST command respect, but the first named will have to show Improvement on his running of Saturday.
