DEVONPORT.
Mr E. W. Alison being the only person nominate' for the office of Mayor to the vonport Borough, was to-day dcv d duly elected.
Mr. Alison ha: .ijled this office on previous occasions in 1890, 1891, 1802, 1893 and 1894. The retiring Mayor, Mr. Malcolm Niccol, has also a very unique record. Be was elected Mayor in June, 188(5, when Devonporfc was formed into a borough, and also again re-elected in December of the same year, and in ISB7, 1888, 1889, and after a spe!! was'elected in 1895, and filled the office'again in 1901. to 1902. Mr. J. C. Macky held office in 1890, 1«37, 1898, 1899. These three gentlemen, during their occupancy of the chuir, have retn, through their energy and keen interest in the borough, the cause of the rapid advancement of the marine suburb.
