The annual meeting of the Thames JEtugby Unioii was held On Saturday evening. Mr J. Mclntyre presided, and there
was a good attendance. The committees report stated that daring last season three citzbs competed as senidrS, threes a* first juniors, stud fwo as Second janic***, the cup matches desalting in jAns fo* Rovers1 (Seniors^ Tnie Blties (fim juniors), and True Blues (second juniors)* ±a representative matches victories wer« Scored against Hamilton and KSiatngap hake; th© match with Auckland was los* and a draw was played with" "WalKi. The junior match with Auckland was also lost. Five Thames players had the honour of representing the province, and JL McGregor was chosen as a New Zealand representative against New South Wales. The committee strongly1 recommended that immediate steps be taken' to have. two representative matches played with. Auckland each year. It had been decided to abolish trophies, and to use the money thus saved as a nucleus of an accident fund. Mention was made of the loss sustained through the retirement o! Mr B. H. Mehzies from management committed during the year and the appointment &t Mr T. Aitken to fill the vacancy. .Tie' thanks of the union were due to ffiß local Referees' Association for their seryiees during the past season; The baJaaceisheet showed that the total receipts! iorj the year (including a balance of £9 lzv brought forward) amounted to £320 0/2, and the expenditure to £235 8/6, thus leading a credit balance of £84 11/8.- The election of officers resulted as follows:-^ Patron, Mi A. Myers; president^ the' Hon. James McGowan; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Scott, R. R. MenzieS, A. Smith, stiid J. Thomas; management committee, Messrs T. Aitfceri, -J. Mclntyre, J. McGregor, J. Towers, and C. Otto; Secretary. Mr W. Hammond; treasurer, Mr R. I>loyd; auditors, Messrs W. O'Brien, and G. G. Paul. After this meeting the newly elected management committee met and elected Mr T. Aitken chairman for the ensuing year... It was decided to affiliate with the Auckland Rugby Union and to open the season on May iff. TKe chairman, secretary, and Mr Towe'f^ weife elected a weather committed, arid the two former a ground committee. It 1fr&& stated that three senior cltibs; ¥&n Rovers, Thames, and Native Rosfe, four firSt jtu'ior clubs, viz., Roversv Native Rose, Thames, and True1 Blue, and one" second junior club, viz., Tararu, had sent fa their nominations for the forifiCominfc season. ■ . .
