A DOG CENSUS.
A foreign correspondent has just sent to the London "Daily News" the European dog census, a perusal of which offers some amusement. France gaily leads the way with 2,864,000 dogs, an average of 75 to every 1000 human beings. Irish dogs, curiously, come next, with a percentage of 73 per 1000. England has only 38 per 1000, Germany 31, and Sweden only 11. It is stated that Germany claims to have almost two and a half million dogs, Russia only ons and a half million, and Turkey oddly enough only 350,000. It is equally surprising to hear that in the vast territories of the United States the estimate is only from one million to one and a half million.
