THE TROOPSHIP DRAYTON
GRANGE
The troopship Di^ayton Grange, of the Houlder Hue, which takes the NorrtMsland. portion oil it he ITenitih New Zealand Contingent from Wellington to South Africa (and by which |Lhe Premier ;is expected to leave), is a new vessel, and a splendid type of tihe modern ocean liner. The Drayton Grange is a twin screw s'teametr, of 10,000 tons burden, and was built by Messrs. Workman, Clark, and Company, Ltd. She is a sister vessel to the Oswestery Grange launched recently from the same yard, ancl is of similar dimensions — \eng*th 450 ft.., bSraadith 551't., depth 33ft. 4in. The new vessel hits a shelter deck running right fore and aft, while the holds are divided into five waiar'nght departments, ' three of which arc insulated for tihe purpose of carrying frozen meat. T(he Drayton Grange has storage room fox 150,000 carcases of mutton. The passenger acvonvnrodation is provided amidships. The arrangements include a large steel deckhouse, containing stale rooms. Overhead is a promcspacious dining saloon and large nade deck, upon wihie.h is situated a handsome smoking-room. A complete installation of electric light is furnished throughout the rooms, holds. and machinery spaces. The passen-q-ers' quarters are warmed by an efficient system of steam heating. Captain Bennett is in command of the vessel, which is expected 'to arrive at Wellington on Thursday.
