His Excellency Rear - Admiral ' Beaumont, Commander-in-Chief of the Australasian Station, went, on board the mail steamer ' Son-■ pma on Saturday afternoon to bid farewel lto the Hon. .Frank Dillingham (U.S. Consul) and Mrs Dillingham, who were proceeding t°. America by the vessel. Yesterday ' the Admiral visited Dr. J. Logan Campbell, at "Kilbrynd," Pa__*ll,but the inclement weather led to the, postponement of the proposed visit to Cornwall Park. This morning the Admiral paid fck official visit to His Excellency the Governor, at Government House, *he usual salute being fired from Nc-'th Head as His Excellency landed. Hia Worship' the Mayor also paid an official visit, to the Governor this- morning. His Excellency the Governor did not make a retiiri* -:Jr\ to-day** ; owing 'to the rough sea in the har bour. ' His Excellency the Admiral and th* officers of the'squadron are to at- . tend the ball given in their honour at Government House on the loth Inst., j and the fleet will probably sail about i Wednesday week. Admiralty Boos* is not yet ready for occupation, stf the Admiral remains on board th* ' flagship while in port here.
