MEETINGS, ENTERTAINMENTS, ETC.

CYCLE ROADS LEAGUE

The weekly meeting of the above was held last evening*, Mr H. C. Choyce in the chair. Present: Messrs Heiiton, Pountney, Cro_ier, Pilkingtou, Henning*, Dickson, Vaile and the Secretary, (Mr Bockaert). Correspondence was received from Mr G. Fowlds, M.H.8., reporting* progress of the Cycle FJoaids Bill, and expressing- the hope that the Government would now7 take it up, and put it through its final stages. Considerable discussion ensued as to the state of our roads general]}', and Queen-street in. particular, much satisfaction being expressed at the able and trenchant leader in last night's "Star." It was stated that the, roadway lately repaired between Shortland-street and Vulcan Lane wa.s already beginning to break up, and that with a little dry weather Queen-street would be full of dust and loose stones. It was decided to send copies of the pictorial road repairing instruction sheet, now being prepared by the Brett Brinting Company, to" each City Councillor, the City Engineer, and the Town Clerk. It was stated that the lithographs would be ready for issue in a day or two. A large amount of routine business was transacted.
