POLICE COURT.

Eemanded. —Solomon Levy, a young man, was remanded for a week on a charge of stealing £3,- the property of Philip Crowe. Bail was granted in two sureties of £20. Mr J. C. Martin appeared "for the defence. William Potter, alias George Fitzherbert, and George King- were remanded for a week on a charge of stealing- one overcoat, the property of Dean Pitt. Bail was fixed in two sureties of £30. Potter was further charged with forging and uttering two cheques purporting to be signed by L. D. TJathan and Coi, and was remanded for a week. Mr J. C. Martin appeared for both Potter and King. '
Alleged Assault with Intent.—A middle-aged man named William Dodds was charged with assaulting Catherine Hardwick with intent to do her grievous bodily harm. The police asked for a remand till Friday, and snid that the woman assaulted was unable to leave the Hospital, and was in a serious condition. The remand was granted, bail being allowed in two sureties of £100.
Drunkenness.—For this offence John Lester England and Selena Nicklin were each fined 5/ or 24 hours' in default; while Jennie Kerr.and Eobert Bateman were each fined 20/ or 7 days' in default*
