WHAXGARET. this day

This district was visited on Saturday and Sunday by a severe gale and heavy rainfall. AH the creeks and streams were in high flood, but are now subsiding. The telegraph lines were interrupted, as was the Hukerenin train service, owing to the approaches to the Wa.iotu bridge having- carried away for two chains. The service, however, is now continued under difficulties. Repairs are being effected as rapidly as possible.
