CHRISTCHURCH, Monday.

The president of the New Zealand Tnstitiite of Journalists has written to Sir Joseph Ward thanking him and the Government generally for the courtesy and kindness extended to the journalists who visited the colony for the purpos" of reporting the Royal tour. In ■■■ letter he writes: "That the nny will be benefited in future by being brought prominently before readers of the great English journals, I think goes without saying."

The 'Royal visit sub-committees met to-day to close accounts. All reported satisfactorily, and the General Executive Committee reported that the financial result would be 22* per cent, under the estimated cost: The committee voted £100 to the secretary as' a bonus, and seven guineas to Mr Dobson, the city surveyor, over and above the payment for plans, and undertook to make good all damage to the domain, Victoria Square, and the city streets, caused by the work of erecting the decorations. DUNEDIN, Monday. A careful calculation and estimates show that 43,500 persons travelled by rail to Dunedin during the Royal visit week. _____________
