OPOTIKI

Trooper Kenneth Eosb arrived from the seat of war on Wednesday night by the Waiotahi. On Thursday the Opotiki Mounted Rifles went to escort him to Opotiki from his home, about three miles down the coast. When the company arrived in the square in front of the Courthouse they were met by a number of the inhabitants and the Chairman of the Town Board, who addressed Mr Ross in a suitable manner, who replied in appropriate terms, after which cheers were given; and so honour was done to one who, having represented us at the seat of war, we are glad to have the opportunity of welcoming home. There are two other men from this locality on their way home. When they ai'rive it is intended to have a more formal and public demonstration.
