A WELLINGTON COMPARISON.
MUCH IN FAVOUR OF AUCKLAND
ONE NOTABLE EXCEPTION,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WELLINGTON, this day
The "Times" to-day admits that the decorations of Auckland on the occasion of the Royal visit were more elaborate and effective than those of Wellington: also that the reception there seemed more hearty, and the pyrotechnic display there was as superior to that given in Wellington as is an arc light to a damp squib. The veterans' dinner iv Auckland was more spontaneous and hearty, but
the Auckland women were not so" graceful and well dressed a.s those of Wellington. There was a great exodus of country settlers on Saturday and to-day.
