INSPECTION OF VETERANS.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

CHEISTCHUECH, this day.

The Duke then inspected the veterans, commanded by Major Wolf. He walked along the lines, examined medals, and chatted with the veterans. The Duke and staff then mounted and rode off to the accompaniment of cheers. The Duchess spoke to several veterans.

The review was a spectacle unique in the colony's history. It is estimated that 11,500 troops took part.

Disappointment was expressed that the Duke and Duchess did not leave their- carriage at the children's demonstration. After the review the Government entertained the veterans and returned troopers at a magnificent lunch in the Art Gallery.
